Tony & Vicki Reid's love for Labradors started in 1990 when a guide dog puppy needed a suitable foster home prior to introduction to their breeding program. Samantha became part of our family until just before her 16th birthday - our love of the breed has never ceased.
We registered our kennel name "Chezenko" in 1991 with the Kennel Union Of Southern Africa.
We soon became besotted with the versatility of the breed and have been involved successfully in competing at the highest levels in Field Trials and Breed Shows. We also competed in Obedience and have had several Canine Good Citizen qualified dogs. We have retired from all competitive aspects and just enjoy our dogs at home and in the field.
We have bred several SA Show Champions, and are also the proud breeders of a Flyball Champion - all credit there goes to Champ's owner's dedication and hard work!
We breed all 3 colours of Labradors and were members of KUSA's Accredited Breeder Scheme from inception until KUSA abolished the scheme in 2016.
Over the years we have expanded our gene pool by importing stud dogs from Brazil and the UK.
Our dogs are all hip and elbow x-rayed and graded, DNA tested for PRA and EIC as well as having eye tests for non-genetically determined hereditary eye diseases.
Our puppies are all KUSA registered, dewormed every 2 weeks, vet checked and vaccinated at 4 & 6 weeks and microchipped.
Air travel can be arranged locally at the buyer's expense - we generally do not export puppies.
We place Breeding Restrictions on all our puppies, which we do not lift. We sell only to pet, working and occasionally show homes.
At 7 weeks our pups are temperament assessed by a qualified Animal Behaviourist in order to best match pups and homes, as well as select best potential working puppies from a litter.
